St Patrick's Catholic Primary Academy

Our Character Education

We believe character education is crucial in a Catholic school because it aligns with the core values of faith, love, service and striving to be the very best version of yourself; which are central to Catholic teachings. It helps our pupils cultivate virtues such as compassion, respect, love, kindness and responsibility, guiding them to make choices that reflect the teachings of Christ.

Through character education, pupils not only develop strong ethical principles but also learn to live out their faith in everyday actions, fostering a sense of community and a commitment to serving others. This holistic approach to education nurtures the spiritual, emotional, and social growth of pupils, preparing them to be compassionate, responsible citizens who contribute positively to society.

Central to our character education are three aspects:

  • Developing our knowledge and understanding of the Saints, using them as an inspiration and guide;
  • Our focus on virtues - following the "Virtues to live by" programme;
  • Our work on Catholic Social Teaching, underpinning how we can look after those of greatest need by working together for the good of all.

Please see our pages for each of the three focus areas.
